After confirmation from the plat room that the petition contains signatures of 40% or more of the area of the privately owned lands included in the proposed district, the petition is submitted to the commissioners for approval. The GIS department digitizes legal descriptions provided in the resolution and adjusts them to the Parcel Polygon data.Annexations to fire districts follow the same procedures as the creation of a fire district. The GIS Fire District boundaries will be updated as fire district annexations occur or new districts are created. Also, when incorporated city limit annexations occur, these areas will be removed from the rural fire district boundaries. One feature included in this data although it did not follow aforementioned legal proceedings is the "WHITEFISH RURAL CONTRACT" feature. This feature was included in a "1984 Billing List for Rural Fire Contracts" prior to the creation of the Whitefish Rural Fire District, but it was not included in the creation of the district nor in subsequent annexations. This feature has been included at Necille Lorang's request on behalf of the city of Whitefish.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>

Description: The Flathead County Parcel Polygon data is comprised of taxable parcels (fee land) and public land (exempt property). It is broken down into individual lots. Each parcel contains an attribute called TRACT_ID that is the parcel identifier. It relates to the historical creation of the tract information assigned by the Flathead County Plat Room.Data is built upon the Flathead County Base Map (FCBM). The FCBM is a complex measurement management system that uses a least squares adjustment of existing survey data to come up with a digital representation of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). Accuracy varies between townships and it is important to note that the accuracy of the parcel data can not be any more accurate than the FCBM.
